1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Buddha Story application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Buddha Story ("we," "us," or "our"). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of any modifications.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use this App. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to agree to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Buddha Story is an iOS application that provides calming Buddhist sleep stories, meditation narratives, and ambient sounds designed to help users relax and sleep. The App offers both free and premium subscription-based content.

- Ambient sounds and soundscapes for relaxation
- Offline listening through downloadable audio content
- Personalized recommendations based on your preferences
- Collections and favorites to organize your listening
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without prior notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.
3. Subscriptions and Payments
Buddha Story offers premium content through auto-renewing subscription plans:
Monthly Plan
$4.99 per month — billed monthly through the Apple App Store. Your subscription automatically renews each month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Yearly Plan
$39.99 per year (save 34%) — billed annually through the Apple App Store. Your subscription automatically renews each year unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
All subscriptions are processed and managed through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Prices are in US dollars and may vary by region based on Apple's pricing tiers. Apple may change pricing at their discretion, and we may update subscription pricing with notice to existing subscribers.
4. Free Trial
Buddha Story offers a free 7-day trial for new subscribers. The trial provides full access to all premium content at no charge.
- The free trial is available once per Apple ID
- If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and you will be charged the applicable subscription fee
- You can cancel your free trial at any time through your Apple ID settings
- Any unused portion of the free trial period is forfeited once you purchase a subscription
5. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you will continue to have access to premium content until that date.
How to Cancel
To cancel your subscription, go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your iOS device, select Buddha Story, and tap "Cancel Subscription." You can also manage your subscription through the App Store app.
Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their App Store refund policies. We do not process refunds directly, as all payments are managed by Apple. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
If you cancel your subscription, your account will revert to free-tier access at the end of the current billing period. Downloaded premium content will no longer be accessible after your subscription expires.
6. Content and Licensing
Buddha Story includes content from a variety of sources. The following outlines the licensing terms for the content available in the App:
Public Domain Content
- The Dhammapada — sourced from LibriVox, in the public domain
- Various Buddhist suttas and texts sourced from Archive.org and LibriVox — in the public domain
Creative Commons Content
- "What the Buddha Taught" by Walpola Rahula — licensed under CC BY-ND 3.0
- Meditation and ambient sounds — sourced under CC0 Public Domain and CC BY-SA licenses
Usage Restrictions
All content within the App is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not:
- Redistribute, republish, or share audio content from the App
- Record, capture, or create derivative works from the App's audio content
- Use any content from the App for commercial purposes
- Remove or alter any copyright notices, attribution, or licensing information
7. User Conduct
By using Buddha Story, you agree to the following rules of conduct:
- No account sharing — your subscription and account are for your personal use only and may not be shared with others
- No reverse engineering — you may not decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or attempt to derive the source code of the App
- No automated access — you may not use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access, download, or interact with the App or its content
- No circumvention — you may not attempt to bypass, disable, or circumvent any security features, access controls, or digital rights management in the App
- No interference — you may not interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure, servers, or networks
- Lawful use — you agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
Violation of these conduct rules may result in immediate termination of your account and access to the App.
8. Intellectual Property
The intellectual property rights in the App are owned as follows:
Proprietary Content
The following elements are the proprietary property of Buddha Story and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws:
- App design, user interface, and visual elements
- Source code and software architecture
- Audio narrations and voice recordings produced for the App
- Curated playlists, collections, and editorial content
- The Buddha Story name, logo, and branding
Public Domain and Licensed Content
Buddhist source texts that are in the public domain remain in the public domain. Creative Commons licensed content retains its original license terms. Our proprietary narrations and adaptations of these texts are separately protected.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. This license does not include the right to modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App.

Not Medical Advice
Buddha Story is designed for relaxation and meditation purposes only. The App and its content do not constitute medical advice and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition or disease.
Not a Substitute for Professional Treatment
The App is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment. If you are experiencing mental health issues, sleep disorders, or other health concerns, please consult a qualified healthcare provider. Do not disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking treatment because of content in the App.
No Guarantee of Results
We make no guarantee of sleep improvement or any specific health outcomes from using the App. Individual results may vary. The App is provided as a tool for relaxation and mindfulness, and its effectiveness depends on many factors beyond our control.
The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Buddha Story and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data, revenue, or profits
- Business interruption
- Personal injury or property damage related to your use of the App
- Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
- Any third-party conduct or content on the App
In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the use of the App exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars ($50), whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the App at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice, for conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.
Grounds for termination include, but are not limited to:
- Violation of any provision of these Terms
- Sharing your account credentials with others
- Attempting to reverse engineer or scrape the App
- Engaging in fraudulent or illegal activity
- Abusive or harmful behavior toward other users or our team
Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease. Any provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at legal@buddhiststories.app or by using the "Delete Account" option in the App's Settings.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class action, class arbitration, or other representative proceeding.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms of Service at any time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App, by email, or by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of Buddha Story after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App and cancel your subscription.
